Towns though on the other hand showed love to D’Lo on his success with the Lakers so far in the playoffs, with D’Lo averaging 15.4 pts and 5.7 asts per game with the Lakers in the post-season and have been a key factor to their success.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Russell together on their tenure with the Timberwolves found little success as they failed to make a deep post-season run. Their best-found success came in the 2021-22 season where they qualify for the 7th seed in the Western Conference after beating the Clippers in the play-in game. This trade deadline the Wolves decided to trade for Mike Conley swapping out D’Lo to the Lakers as they were looking for a veteran point guard to pair with the up-and-coming Anthony Edwards.

Although both friends are separated the two are still on good terms. D’Angelo Russell is looking to make a championship push with the Lakers while Karl Anthony Towns’ future with the Wolves looks brim, who knows we might even get to see both these two play together again if Towns decided to force a trade this summer.

Karl-AnthonyTowns’ friend D’Angelo Russell unbothered by his PAST with Lakers

D’Angelo Russell found his footing with the Lakers this post-season being a key factor on the offense for them. Russell is averaging 17.4 points per game, 6.1 assist per game and 0.6 steals per game with the Lakers this season.

D’Lo was drafted by the Lakers in 2015 as the second overall pick in the NBA draft, his short tenure with the Lakers ended in an ugly divorce following a scandal with Nick Young and his girlfriend at the time Iggy Azalea. This incident continued to haunt D’Lo in his career earning him the nickname of ‘snitch’. Despite the past scars the Lakers came calling for his number at the trade deadline and had been a major factor for the Lakers post-season run ever since.

The Lakers are now up 3-1 on the Golden State Warriors with key contributions from D’Lo himself and also players like Lonnie Walker and Rui Hachimura. This redemption run by D’Lo can be closed off beautifully if the Lakers can hang up banner 18.
