“Kevin Durant got swept, and LeBron James didn’t even make the play-ins” Isiah Thomas suggests to re-think who are the two top players of modern-day NBA

Kevin Durant is officially out… for the season. After a season-long struggle in keeping the Brooklyn Nets within the contending teams in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics used their biggest weakness against them in the first round. Even though the lack of defense was apparent, was it really the only problem? Starting with Kyrie Irving, who averaged just 15.3 points per piece in the final three-game stretch against the Celtics.
Up next would be KD and his “overthinking” who averaged 5.2 turnovers per game finishing with 21 in this series which is more than what he usually records in four rounds. Jayson Tatum and the Celtics were wise enough to take advantage of the situation and slap Durant in the face with their defense. As for Ben Simmons? See you next!
Brooklyn Nets get swept in the first round of the playoffs
The Boston Celtics swept the Brooklyn Nets in Game 4, 112-116 at the Barclays Center. Tatum has his team managed to maintain a close lead throughout the game. The Nets had a chance to tie the game during the final seconds but Kevin Durant missed a crucial free throw giving the Celtics a chance to score in transition. Defensive Player of the Year, Marcus Smart missed a layup but Al Horford managed to slip away from the Nets defenders.
KD had a better night finishing with 39 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists on 13-31 shooting. It was Kyrie Irving who failed to pose the threat he usually is scoring a very limited 20 points. Irving took the blame for the 4-0 sweep saying, “I think it was just really heavy emotionally this season. We all felt it. I felt like I was letting the team down at a point where I wasn’t able to play.”
Bad Boy Isaiah Thomas says Kevin Durant and LeBron James are not the league’s best anymore
The two favorites to win the title this year with the Nets and LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers. Unlike Brooklyn, LA did not make it to the playoffs by a mile slipping past the play-in tournament as well. This is obviously a big upset for many who follow these franchises but the criticism has been heavy on both leaders.
Former NBA point guard, Isaiah Thomas was brutally honest about who he thought was the league’s best players. Apparently, KD and LBJ are excluded from his list. “After these playoffs, we’re gonna have to do some rethinking of who the top players are. We’ve had LeBron James and Kevin Durant in the top. One got swept and one didn’t even make the play-ins,” said IT.
