The Golden State Warriors are on the edge of elimination as the Los Angeles Lakers have three wins in the series. With just one win away, the Lakers walked into Game 5 looking to seal the series. The defending champions have been struggling with their defense throughout the series so far. Moreover, players like Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson have been out of touch as they struggled to score effectively. Although criticisms have come for both, Thompson has been on the receiving end of way more from fans and critics.
Thompson is not having the best postseason of his career. He is currently averaging 19.4 points per game, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in the 12 games he has played so far. Apart from his 30-point performance in Game 2 against LA, he has struggled to score more than 20 points. Moreover, he was also the subject of criticism from fans and critics after he took two shots in Game 4 from unnecessarily difficult positions.
Klay Thompson’s struggles continued in Game 5, as well as the guard managed to score only 10 points. He shot 3-12 from the field and 2-6 for three-pointers. However, Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins put up 27 and 25 points, respectively, as both looked in good touch. The Golden State Warriors managed to win Game 5 with a score of 106-121 at the end of regulation. However, they will be concerned about Thompson’s out-of-form run so far.

While Klay Thompson‘s struggles continue, fans have no mercy on the guard on social media. Many are calling Thompson a washed player on Twitter as they accuse him of not being the ‘same old Klay.’ After all, they are frustrated to see the Warriors lose due to players not stepping up. The Golden State Warriors are now headed to Los Angeles for Game 6 of the series. Stephen Curry has been in great touch, as usual. However, the Warriors collectively have a poor record on the road. In the postseason, they’ve won just two out of the six away games they’ve played so far. Although they managed to win both must-win games on the road previously, the Lakers will not be easy opponents.
As LeBron James and the men in purple and gold gear up for the next game, all eyes will be on Klay Thompson. The Warriors need their experienced shooting guard to step more than they ever did before. Moreover, with the series going to Game 6, fans are cheering for ‘Game 6 Klay’. A name Thompson earned for himself after consistently performing really well in Game 6 of a series over the years. Will the guard redeem himself in LA, or will his struggles continue? We will find out on May 12th (US).
