In the heart of contract discussions, Klay Thompson, one of the star players for the Golden State Warriors’ iconic trio, faces uncertainty regarding his future in the 2023-24 NBA season. In the midst of Thompson’s contract extension saga with the Warriors, Thompson has made a huge admission about his future with the dubs.
Entering the final stretch of his five-year, $189.9 million deal signed post-ACL injury in 2019, Thompson remains optimistic. Talks with the Warriors about a new contract progress at a deliberate pace, yet Thompson remains composed, prioritizing his dedication to the game and the team and also made it clear that he does not want to leave the Warriors for any other teams with the NBA.
According to Anthony Slater of the Athletic, Thompson said, “Absolutely. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. To play for one franchise, that’s so rare in any sport.… It’s some real legendary stuff. And I was here before banners were hung up. So in a way, it’s our baby. You want to ride it out. I’ve just been so lucky to be a part of this franchise. It’d be so hard to envision myself in another uniform.”
Drafted by the Dubs in 2011, Thompson underscores his championship-focused mindset while navigating the uncertain terrain of contract negotiations. As discussions unfold, Thompson’s future hangs in a good balance, influencing the warrior’s dynamics and future aspirations. He played a pivotal role in revitalizing the Warriors franchise.

Klay Thompson Targets Full 82-Game in this 2023-24 NBA Season; Considers 70+ Games a Victory for the Warriors
In defiance of the NBA’s new load management policy and regulation, Golden State Warriors sniper Klay Thompson is determined to complete the entire 82-game regular season. The policy, designed to prevent teams from resting 2 key players without league approval, has prompted Thompson to intensify his commitment to the court and his overall basketball game. Recently, Jason Dumas of KRON 4 News reported Thompson’s aspiration to participate in 70 or more games in the upcoming 2023-24 season, considering it a significant triumph.
Throughout his 12-season career in the NBA, Thompson accomplished a full 82-game season only once, during the 2012-13 season when he maintained an average of 16.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. Despite nearing the mark in the 2013-14 and 2015-16 seasons with 81 and 80 games played respectively, an ACL injury took him out of the spotlight for nearly two years.
Despite playing 69 games last season and averaging 21.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, Thompson’s absence from the All-Star roster for two consecutive seasons due to injury has fueled his determination to make a substantial impact this year. By aiming to maximize his game time, Thompson aims to bolster the Warriors’ competitive edge in the fiercely contested Western conference to potentially win the championship.
