Klay Thompson recreates Stephen Curry’s iconic shimmy after an epic play in Game 5 vs Mavs
Red hot Klay Thompson scored game high 32 points in Game 5 of WCF against Dallas Mavericks
Golden State Warriors punched their ticket to the 6th NBA final in last 8 seasons. Klay Thompson led the team in scoring with very efficient shooting from the field and decided to even show off his moves in from of the home crowd.
Dallas Mavericks were hoping to repeat their Game-4 heroics and tried the same offensive flow against Golden State Warriors. But Dub nation rallied behind their team, who improved their shooting percentage from the last game and gave no breather to the visiting team. Ever offensive Stephen Curry moved to the facilitator role as other players made most of the open opportunities to keep the score in favor of the Golden State Warriors. Klay Thompson, who had a comparatively mediocre series against the Mavs rose to the occasion and sent his team to the finals.
Emotional during the presentation ceremony, Klay showed no mercy to his opponents on the court. Klay was in his groove shooting from all the possible angles, and his confidence was oozing on the court. He even did the famous “Stephen Curry Shimmy” which added even more fun for the Warriors fans.
The return of Klay Thompson vs Mavs in Game 5
Klay Thomson made a return to the court after spending nearly 2 years in rehab. He was sweating hard on the ACL injury and even had 1 more injury during that period, forcing him out for some more time. His return to the line-up was a welcome sign for the team, who missed a trip to the finals in both the seasons in Klay’s absence.
But Thompson did make a successful return in the regular season in time and he even played his “important role” in the postseason matches. Talking about the Conference finals, Klay averaged 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game before Game 5. But in Game-5 it was more of a “Klay-show” as he drained 8 three-pointers in 16 attempts, and was 12-25 from the field.
He scored game-high 32 points in 37 minutes of game time. Dallas Mavericks, already helpless against the Warriors’ offense throughout the series, found it even difficult to deal with Klay’s offensive mode and rather tried to match the Warriors’ score on the other end of the floor.
Talking about returning to the NBA Finals after lots of struggles in the past 2 seasons, Klay addressed the press conference in a “happy mood” and explained his feelings as he said, “Just such a surreal feeling it’s hard to put into words really um you know this time last year I was just starting to jog again and get up and down the court. And now to be feeling like myself, feeling explosive, feeling sure in my movements I’m just grateful and that kind of came all those emotions, just kind of rushed through me. They (coaching staff) would tell me to pay off and it was hard to see that at the time, but now to be here I can feel it paying off.”
Klay Thompson generally gets at least one-or-two high-scoring games in the series and those proved to be the difference-makers in the series. When Klay starts shooting freely, the game starts to slip away from the opponent’s hands. His game-6 performances handed him the title “Game-6 Klay” and today’s performance might just change it to “series finisher Klay”
Golden State Warriors might have entered their 6th NBA final in the last 8 seasons, but personally, for Klay, it is 6th NBA final in 6th season he has played in. is quite an achievement for a 32-year-old – 3-time NBA Champion.
