“Glass of wine before games, beers whatever” Klay Thompson says he felt “invincible” before his big career-deciding injury
Klay Thompson is one of the best shooter of the current generation. The player holds an integral part among the Golden State Warriors roster and was very important in their last eight playoff runs. In the two seasons that he was away from the team, it was very apparent how much the Warriors needed him to create distraction for his teammates and work the defense.
He also became a four-time champion this past season and this one in particular holds a lot of meaning for the team individually and as a whole. Thompson makes one half of the iconic “splash brothers” duo alongside Stephen Curry who is the all-time leader in three-pointers made. KT also had a very important role to play during the playoffs being their secondary scorer at times.
Klay Thompson undergoes several injuries only to slap his doubters across the face
Klay Thompson spent over 900+ days away from NBA games and his teammates of the Golden State Warriors. During the 2019 NBA Finals, he suffered from a torn ACL in Game 6 versus the Toronto Raptors. This was immediately after Kevin Durant injured himself in Game 5 with a strained calf.
Thompson had already scored 30 points that game and he was much needed for the Dubs to continue. Unfortunately, the Raptors managed to close out their 3-2 lead to win their first ever championship. The following two seasons, Golden State finished as the worst team in the league and then missed the playoffs again the following year. He returned to the game in January 2022 and became a crucial piece in their title run.

Klay Thompson reflects back onto his rehabilitation period
Klay Thompson joined his teammate Andre Iguodala on the Point Forward podcast and reflected on his time away from playing, he said, “Obviously, I love the game, you know? Because I would tell myself like I got to do something else rather than basketball. I bought a camera… I used it for like two weeks… then I kind of got lazy. And then I always just ended up watching Sports Center watching NBA TV, watching the others play, watching my old highlights like I couldn’t go without it.”
“So, my love for the game never really wavered, and that kind of made me appreciate the little things every day of just going to the facility, just the cold tubs, I mean all the extra stuff that I never did. I wasn’t the biggest one of the yoga but I started getting into my flexibility… my lifestyle just to be as healthy as possible. I’m not gonna lie before all this happened, I would eat what I wanted to eat, a glass of wine before games, beers, whatever. Even go out late at times, you know?… I felt, I hate to say it, but invincible at times.”
