Klay Thompson‘s time with the Golden State Warriors has been nothing short of spectacular; he is arguably one of the best players the franchise has ever had. 4× NBA champions, 5× NBA All-Star, 2× All-NBA Third Team, and the plethora of list goes on and on.

But lately, the shooting guard hasn’t found his rhythm in the game, losing his form and place in the starting 5. So much so that the player strongly reacted to Steve Kerr’s decision, as stated by Kerr himself.

It was not an easy conversation. This is maybe the hardest part about getting further away from our prime. It’s just, after 12 years [of Thompson starting], it wasn’t easy. And still moving forward, it’s not going to be easy. But I told him, 'If you really embrace it, you can help your team win.
Said Kerr on his decision to put Klay Thompson as the 6th man.

However, it hasn’t been the worst-case scenario for Klay, with more of him embracing the situation as he has shown glimpses of his new position in the team.

In their recent game against the Washington Wizards, Thompson came off the bench, scoring 25 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds in their 123-112 win. The new role has been a big uplift not just for himself but for the whole team, describing how being able to play with his teammates in itself was an amazing feeling.

Given their position in the league and form into the 2024 season, it has been a rollercoaster ride for the team from Bayside.

Shocking results, strange trade tactics, injuries, and suspensions, it has been a mixed-emotion journey for the fans and players into the season. With the hope that their recent purple patch will provide them with a play-off opportunity.

Klay Thompson explodes from the bench again against the New York Knicks

The New York Knicks hosted the Golden State Warriors in what was an important game for the visitors after their loss against the Denver Nuggets. But spirits were as high as the men from Bayside would go on to win at the end.

The Knicks, who look serious contenders for the title this season, looked toothless against a high-spirit Warriors side, losing 123-112.

Klay Thompson, as stated earlier by Steve Kerr that he would continue from the bench, was once again effective, scoring 16 points as he continues to flourish in his new position as the 6th man on the team. Jonathan Kuminga and Stephen Curry would contribute to a total of 56 points in the entirety of the game, extending their win record by 31.

While the hopes for the play-off look unlikely, fans on the team hope they can achieve something realistic this season after what may only be perceived as a ‘horrendous’ season.
