The Golden State Warriors have had an utterly difficult season thus far. Apart from a lack of team chemistry and clarity over their best lineup, the obvious loss of Draymond Green has further hampered chances.

With a range of critics suggesting that the Warriors’ dynasty might finally have come to an end, Klay Thompson still has a lot of optimism. The Warriors have won 2 of their last 7 games, but the victories have come against the likes of Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons, two teams that have constantly struggled.

Thompson however, speaking after the game against the Toronto Raptors, claimed that he expects a comeback to happen in the near future:

Um, we got Steph Curry. We got myself. Draymond Green’s coming back. Chris Paul will be back. We have champions on the roster. I will never panic. Like I said, I really believe in this team.

The optimism was expected to give fans hope. However, considering the way the Warriors have shown out thus far, fans reacted with claims of delusion. One in particular, directly asked Thompson to stop being delusional:

All jokes apart, NBA fans are well aware that the Warriors have more than what it takes to mount a comeback. Whether it actually ends up happening, as Thompson predicts, remains to be seen.

Thompson was speaking after the loss against the Toronto Raptors. Klay led the scoring with 25 points and 3 assists, while Curry had just 9 points on the night. Trayce Jackson-Davis finished with a double-double, shedding light on exactly how much the Warriors have depended on their youngsters this season.

The lack of belief seems to be down to the fact that the Warriors have looked like a shell of their past even with all their major stars in the roster. Recent weeks have seen a number of injuries and absences.

Regardless, fans believe they have seen plenty to not be hopeful for a comeback this season:

However, the Warriors have also struggled with a lack of hustle and defensive resilience, problems that fans are sure will not be solved even when the likes of Draymond Green and Chris Paul return.
