Darvin Ham considered for Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach position
Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly shortlisted Darvin Ham for their head coach hunt. So when the news broke-out former Los Angeles Lakers star Kyle Kuzma supported Bucks’ Darvin Ham’s chances to making up to the top.
After a horrendous 2021-22 season, Los Angeles Lakers are acting fast in the background to work things out for the team in order to contest for the championship next season. The very first step they took was to fire Head Coach Frank Vogel. A tough decision with the players’ contracts is still due, people at the purple and gold front office are firstly looking for someone to spearhead the next team. With ongoing headhunting, Darvin Ham is one name that has attracted sufficient interest. The Lakers need to take permission from Milwaukee Bucks to interview him, as he is currently on contract and active with them.

LA Lakers seek reunion with Darvin Ham
Darvin Ham is not a new name for the LA Lakers franchise. He was with the team for 2 seasons from 2011 to 2013. He assisted Mike Brown and Mike D’Antoni in the Lakers locker room. His relationship with Late Kobe Bryant was also well known since it was Kobe’s agent who helped the Lakers hire Ham in the 1st place.
2004 NBA Champion (with Detroit Pistons) Darvin Ham was a power forward in his playing days, but he also has a very successful coaching career as well. Darvin Ham was a part of the Milwaukee Bucks as they clinched their second ever NBA title. His ability to connect with superstars in the team, man-management, and Basketball IQ made him one of the most promising assistant coach in the league.
Though he never had head coach experience in his resume, the Lakers can overlook it considering his credentials, talent, and playoff experience. With the 2023 roaster yet to be finalized, Rob Pelinka made his intentions clear about filling in the Head coach position first-and-foremost. Will we see Darvin Ham in the hot seat and if yes, how can he encourage and improve on the struggling team chemistry, is still remains to be seen.
