Stephen A. Smith always appears to be in the limelight for some reason or the other. This time, it’s for threatening to expose the behind-the-scene activities of former NFL star Terrell Owens. On 16 Sept. Smith sent out a tweet in which he made the threats to which Owens responded in kind, asking Smith to back his statements up with facts instead of throwing words around. It appears this exchange frustrated NBA star Kyrie Irving, since he responded to them asking them to clear the air and move on.
The beef between Smith and Owens started on Sept. 16, when Owens reacted to Max Kellerman’s dismissal from ESPN. He insinuated that Smith had something to do with Kellerman being fired. To this Smith responded by saying, “You know how I feel about your sorry ass [Terrell Owens] and you know why! You should thank your Heavenly Father I havenβt zeroed in on you with the trifling s— you tried to pull. Tell folks to ask ESPN what your desperate ass tried to pull. Keep on talking. Eventually, youβll expose yourself!” He continued his statements by saying he might dedicate an entire podcast to the antics Owens has tried to pull throughout the years.
Apparently, it was this tweet that drew the line for Irving. He tweeted out, “[Stephen A. Smith] can yβall Call each other like Grown Mature Men and Clear the air without all of the extra social media back and forth? Get what you need off your chest and move on.”
Stephen A. Smith has a long history of igniting hostilities. This is one of the rare instances where an NBA star has stepped in to stop the beef, even when he wasn’t involved. This fight could fizzle out soon. Then again, it might not. It all depends on what Smith decides to do with the ‘information’ he has about Owens.
How did fans feel about Irving acting as a peacekeeper?
Kyrie Irving doesn’t often act as a mediator. So when he did, fans across social media had a lot to say about it.

Many fans found it hilarious that Kyrie was attempting to lessen controversy. Considering that Irving has been involved in numerous altercations and scandals across these last few years, many felt he was the wrong person to act as a peace bringer. One fan tweeted out, “Kyrie is the grown up in the room now? What a wild timeline.”
