Kyrie Irving is known to be one of the most controversial players in the league because of the opinions he holds on various public issues. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kyrie refused to get the vaccine, which led to him missing half of the games and severely affecting the Brooklyn Nets. Now, after the controversies have settled down, Kyrie has found a way back in.
After Novak Djokovic won his 24th Grand Slam at the US Open this past week, instead of congratulating him, Kyrie could only point out the fact that Djokovic is unvaccinated and that it didn’t affect his performance. Djokovic’s historic achievement was used by Kyrie to assert that he was right all along and all the people who didn’t approve of his choices were wrong.
Irving also boasted that he was not a conspiracy theorist and was right about the fact that the government had paid a large amount of money to silence people about the origin of the virus after a CIA whistleblower confirmed the story. He shared a video on Instagram to boast that he was right in the first place, and that people were wrong about calling him a conspiracy theorist.
Kyrie Irving’s controversies and how they have affected his teams?

Kyrie Irving has been a controversial figure in the NBA. While he is one of the most talented point guards in the league, teams are hesitant to take a chance on him despite his talents. This is mainly because of the controversies and rash decisions he makes that affect the team he is on severely. He had previously been at the center of many controversies, which had affected his former teams, especially the Brooklyn Nets.
After the COVID-19 pandemic took over the world, causing everything, including the NBA, to shut down, everyone was waiting for a vaccine so that people could go back to normal, as the vaccine would reduce the risks significantly. So, everywhere around the world, vaccines were mandated for safety. Kyrie believed that the vaccines were a hoax and refused to take them, which caused him to not be able to play games in the states where vaccines were mandated, basically eliminating him from all games away from Brooklyn.
After that, he got suspended by the Brooklyn Nets itself after he shared a link to an anti-Semitic movie that ridiculed the Jewish community. Owner of the Nets, Joe Tsai, who is also Jewish, suspended Kyrie and then traded him to the Dallas Mavericks as soon as he could. Kyrie has been in never-ending controversies, and the Mavericks hope he stays out of them next season to give them the best chance for a championship.
