“That was a totally different situation” Kyrie Irving denies to compare Nets’ 0-3 hole vs Celtics to Cavaliers 3-1 comeback vs Warriors
Kyrie Irving
Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets are suffering in the first round of their playoff series which now sees the team being behind with a 3-0 deficit against the Boston Celtics who have left no chance to annihilate their rivals. Nets lost the first match with a really close margin due to Jayson Tatum’s heroics, but things didn’t get better for them after the game, in fact, they got even worse as the margin of loss kept increasing and increasing. The Nets now find themselves one loss away from being thrown out of the playoffs which is a situation not specifically unknown to Irving.
Kyrie Irving has been a legend of the sport for a really long time, playing with different teams, alongside different players and different groups, each of whom were special in their own way, therefore guaranteeing that Kyrie has a lot of experience of being in tense and high pressure situations, making it a relatable experience for him to be down 3-0 in the first-round series right now.
Despite of all the similarities in the previous and current situations, Kyrie doesn’t really want to compare it to his Cavs run against Warriors where his team was down 3-1 in the finals, but came back and won the Finals that year.
Let us take a closer look at what Irving had to say when asked about his Cavs experience against the Warriors and how does that motivate him to not lose hope against the Celtics.
Kyrie Irving doesn’t want to compare Nets situation with Cavaliers out of respect
The way things have been going for the Brooklyn Nets and their star-studded squad which was expected to dominate the entire league, it seems as if there is no end to their misery. The team is now on a 3-0 deficit against the Boston Celtics, just one game away from the series defeat, which will throw them out of Championship contention, the hopes of which seem negligible for the team right now.
Boston Celtics managed to dominate the Brooklyn Nets and keep them down for the 3rd straight game in the first round series of the playoffs this year. The team has not only managed to keep itself away from the jaws of defeat, which is something that most of the people were saying in the first game where they won only because of Tatum’s heroics, but have rather showed why they deserve to win games against the Nets, increasing the margin of victory to a comfortable 7 in the 2nd game and 6 in the 3rd game.
After the Nets’ third straight loss to the Celtics, Kyrie Irving was asked a question about a similar situation that he had to face in the past while he was a part of the Cavaliers where his team came back from a 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors to win the championship that year. When asked what he takes from that experience, Irving said that it was an entirely different situation.

He stated that he didn’t want to compare both of these situations out of respect for his teammates that time and his current team. He added on by saying that he could make comments personal to him but it was a team sport and a team effort is something that was needed,
Irving also stated that it was something new for them as a group therefore signalling that bouncing back wouldn’t really be as easy as was being predicted. Let us now take a look at the reactions people on twitter had to this statement made by Kyrie Irving regarding his previous and current experiences.
