“Wake the F*ck up” Kyrie Irving publicly calls out Joe Biden as Brittney Griner gets sentenced for 9 years

American basketball player Brittney Griner‘s month-long trial is now over. On Thursday, Griner was found guilty of knowingly trafficking drugs into Russia and was given a nine-year prison term. When the centre for the Phoenix Mercury was held in Russia for almost six months on drug-related allegations after being seized on her way to play for the Russian team UMMC Ekaterinburg on February 17, the case gained international attention and t he WNBA is now going through one of those situations where the basketball community unites around one another.

Kyrie Irving, a star for the Brooklyn Nets, has a history of speaking out on important issues. He requested that President Joe Biden give additional details about Griner and her current predicament. Brittney Griner has been held by Russian police since February 17, when they arrested her at Sheremetyevo International Airport on suspicion that she was in possession of marijuana oil-containing vape cartridges, which are prohibited in that country. To increase her income and keep up her talents, Griner, like many other female basketball players, plays abroad during the WNBA summer. At the time of her arrest, Griner was playing for UMMC Ekaterinburg in the Russian Women’s Basketball Premier League. Griner claimed she had no idea how the cannabis oil got into her bag, but added that she had a doctor’s prescription for it and had packed quickly.
