The Dallas Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving put on a show in his return to his previous team’s home ground on Tuesday. The Mavericks won the game 119-107 against the Brooklyn Nets. Irving was 15-24 from his shooting and scored 36 points to lead them to a win. But the Mavericks Guard’s alley-oop dunk left the Brooklyn crowd and fans on the internet shook.

The moment received high praise from basketball fans and fans were excited to see their favorite player’s amazing performance. Luka Doncic also scored 35 points with a season-high 18 rebounds and 9 assists. The Mavericks duo was unstoppable against the Nets’ defense. The Mavericks kept their since the beginning of the game.

Irving has missed 18 games due to injuries this season. This has affected the team in a great amount. First, he went through a foot injury, and then a finger injury afterward. The Mavericks needed Irving to come back to improve the team’s record. As Luka Doncic was without help, the Mavericks have fallen to the 8th seed in the Western Conference.

Kyrie Irving felt at home on his return to Brooklyn

Kyrie Irving was traded from The Brooklyn Nets to the Dallas Mavericks last year. He returned to Brooklyn on Tuesday and scored 36 points and won the game for his team. After the game, the star expressed how he felt coming back to the home of the team he was a part of for almost 4 years.

He talked about coming early in the stadium, warming up, sensing the atmosphere, getting a sense of the rim, and mentally preparing himself for the game. Irving also mentioned despite not winning a championship as a Brooklyn Net, there was more to the place than a championship. He also mentioned the politics that he couldn’t control, and that he’s not perfect and is learning from things to keep pushing forward.

The Mavericks star also took a jab at Mayor Eric James regarding a vaccination controversy during the game. After being asked by a fan why he did not perform at the same level while he was a player for the Brooklyn Nets, Irving simply answered by telling the fans to ask that question to the Mayor instead.
