But I think for Dallas in general, he created a culture of championship winning and MVP-like performances, a lot of game winners, playing with a lot of the legends in the league... It helped build this franchise to be where it is today. Although it's only one championship, a lot of franhcises can't say the same... I look at Dirk as someone who I can always go to if I need some resources or advice.

Irving, who has been having a great season, playing for the Mavs, playing alongside Luka Doncic, knows how valuable Dirk was to the organization. Nowitzki is considered to be one of the greatest power forwards to ever play.

He was similar to an earlier version of Nikola Jokic. He wasn’t as athletic as most of the players in the league, though Nowitzki knew how to get the job done.

Dirk Nowitzki was an ancient version of the Joker

Nikola Jokic is regarded as the next greatest player to ever play. Though his playstyle somewhat resembles that of Nowitzki’s. Both are not as athletic as other big men, neither are they as quick. But Nowitzki was one of the most consistent players of his time. His signature fadeaway was almost unguardable.

Compared to the Joker, Dirk displayed a similar playing style, while also relying on his fundamentals. The game was quite different during Dirk’s prime, as three-point shooting wasn’t as dominant as it is today. Still, Nowitzki was a threat from deep as well. Offensively, the German was a complete player.

When it comes to the best international players in NBA history, Dirk has his name among the top picks. Dirk Nowitzki paved the way for the upcoming Mavs players, as we now see the team being led by the Serbian, Luka Magic. Dirk’s name will forever be under the franchise’s name, having started the first-ever wave back in 2011.
