“Don’t overreach” – Kyrie Irving SLAMS critics, defends team USA after getting trolled

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving has made his way back to the NBA headlines. Even though he rules those with his controversial actions, this time the story is a bit different. As Kai has come out to defend Team USA’s FIBA World Cup roster. Kyrie Irving this time sent out a hopeful take for the fans to believe in their national team. As USA’s select team defeated USA’s FIBA World Cup team in 2 consecutive 10-minute scrimmages at the training camp.

Fans were expectedly disappointed with this news. But not many of them would understand the reasons and backstories behind the losses. The FIBA World Cup’s roster features stars like Anthony Edwards, Brandon Ingram, Mikal Bridges, Austin Reaves, and others. But this is the very first time most of these players are teaming up together. And, Basketball is a team game and it does take time to build chemistry at such professional levels. Irving maybe has personally experienced those moments so he’s backing up his guys.

Also, the USA’s select features Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, Chet Holmgren, and others. Most of these players are the top picks of the NBA Draft in recent years. And, some of them have even shared the court in the past days and know each other. So them being able to bear the USA’s FIBA World Cup roster is understandable. But again the guys who are representing the nation have to get better and clown all such games in order to bag Gold for the USA.

Kyrie Irving though wants the fans to keep their calm and give them guys time to learn and be a unit. As in a tweet of his, Kyrie wrote: “It Happens, it’s part of the game when everybody is trying to find a role and earn playing time. You Gotta give the guys on the World Cup team time to Gel and get to know each other’s game. Don’t over reach with this post. Hélà??♾?.”

Kyrie Irving has been there and done that. He exactly knows what the team is lacking and needs to improve on. It’s nice to see the most controversial player who actually is misunderstood voice up for his guys who’ll be representing the United States of America on a global level in some weeks.

Steve Kerr believes the losses to be time-honored traditions. Even he’s full of hope and wants his guys to successfully get past the challenge of facing great players while getting prepared for the World Cup.

Kerr quoted “It’s a time-honored tradition of USA Basketball. Everybody knows the Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley story from ’92. In 2019, for the last World Cup, the select team came in, kicked our butts, and that’s the whole point. You want to get great talent to come in and challenge you and that’s what the Select team did today.”

Steve Kerr wasn’t much bothered by the loss. Being the coach he probably knows what’s to be done. Also, it was Cade Cunningham who got the job done by going to work. The stats weren’t revealed but Team USA should now be focusing on building themselves as a unit as Kyrie Irving advised them.
