Kyrie Irving has been known to be very vocal about political issues. He has always voiced out his opinions, without caring for what others would think of them. He has once again voiced his opinion on an important social topic – the war between Israel and Palestine.

For the unversed, the Palestine group – called the Hamas, invaded Israel. Israel, in response has launched it’s own counter attack. The attack has killed over 900 Palestinians until now. Irving expressed his disappointment at the fact that everyone was talking about Israeli casualties while the Palestinian casualties were being ignored.

Irving posted a tweet saying, “Where are all you tough talking Media Heads that get on TV and social platforms to condemn people who stand by the oppressed?? “

He further added on, “Crimes are being committed against humanity and most of you are silent. Cat got your tongue? Or you’re afraid of actually standing for something real.” His comments come days after former adult star Mia Khalifa expressed her support for the Palestinians as well.

Kyrie Irving’s controversies

Kyrie Irving has been involved in quite a few controversies in the past. The NBA star’s most recent one was when he posted antisemitic tweets and then refused to say he was against antisemitism.

His statements led to many brands dropping him, including sporting giant Nike. A while after the split, Irving commented, “There’s nothing more priceless than being free.”

Hopefully for Irving, him voicing his opinions on the Israel-Palestine conflict doesn’t get him dropped from any other sponsors. The way the political environment is structured however, it is entirely likely that Irving may face some backlash for his comments. Whether or not that backlash transfers to a loss of sponsorships remains to be seen.
