Kyrie Irving is not only a star on the court but also a star off it. The Dallas Mavericks guard has been giving back to the community with his generous donations to various causes.
In the last year, Irving has donated more than $112,000 to help people in need around the world. He has given $25,000 to support Gaza families affected by the recent conflict, $40,000 to fight injustice on Hilton Island, $24,000 to help local kids battle cancer, and $23,000 to support Hypers Kids Africa.
Irving’s donations are especially impressive, considering his past controversy. In October 2022, he was suspended by the NBA for sharing a link to an antisemitic film on social media. The film denied the Holocaust and attacked the Jewish faith.
Irving apologized for his mistake, but he still faced a five-game suspension. He also had to pay a $500,000 fine and donate another $500,000 to anti-hate causes. But Irving did not stop there. He continued to donate to various charities in the following months. He showed that he learned from his error and wanted to make amends.
Dallas Mavericks make re-signing Kyrie Irving top priority

The Dallas Mavericks have one main goal this offseason: keep Kyrie Irving in Dallas. The Mavericks drafted center Dereck Lively II with the 12th pick in the 2023 NBA draft on Thursday, but their biggest move will be to re-sign Irving, who is set to become a free agent.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Irving is the top priority for the Mavericks, who traded for him last year and gave up significant assets in the process. Irving averaged 27.1 points and 5.5 assists per game for the Mavericks.
“For this organization in Dallas, re-signing Kyrie Irving is certainly paramount,” Wojnarowski said. “They gave up significant assets for him a year after they lost Jalen Brunson for nothing to New York in free agency.“
Kyrie Irving is a key piece for the Mavericks, who are looking to build a championship contender around star point guard Luka Doncic.
