“They might sign the Kardashians next” Lakers Fans in utter disgust after they sign two big names after 2022 Draft Day
Scottie Pippen Jr and Shareef O'Neal sign for the Lakers
The 2022 NBA Draft came with expectations and seemed to break them all, and it certainly brought a lot of glamour, as the Lakers might even sign the Kardashians next. The LA Lakers signed Scotty Pippen Jr. to a two-way contract and had Shareef O’Neal agree to play for them in the Summer League after the end of the draft. The two undrafted players, sons of former stalwarts, Scottie Pippen and Shaquille O’Neal, will now cherish the Lakers uniform.
The Lakers are getting all the limelight this postseason, however they have appointed Darvin Ham as their new Head Coach for the 2022-2023 season, to make amends. They get to grips with their disastrous season and had been looking for change in personnel. The Los Angeles Lakers star-studded team not making into the playoffs was and has been one of the biggest talking points in and around the world of NBA. With One of the All-Time Greats, LeBron James himself, and two future Hall of Famers in Anthony Davis and freshly traded, Russell Westbrook, the Lakers looked scary on paper, not so much on court.

“Who next ?” – Twitter hilariously reacts to the Lakers signing the next generation of former legends
The 2022 NBA Draft presented many good players that can do interesting things in the league. Paolo Banchero took the No. 1 overall pick after the Orlando Magic selected him to kick off the draft, while Chet Holmgren and Jabari Smith closed out the top 3. The Lakers took the first steps toward rebuilding their roster Thursday, trading into the NBA Draft and selecting Michigan State’s Max Christie as the No. 35 pick. The team sent cash and a 2028 second-round pick to Orlando earlier in the day to acquire the pick. The pick will be the better of the Lakers’ or the Washington Wizards’ pick, which the team acquired last year in the Russell Westbrook trade.
We saw many interesting trades and takes on roster full of young players, however one of the most intriguing things was when the sons of two NBA legends made it to the league through the draft. Scotty Pippen Jr. and Shareef O’Neal didn’t hear their names called by commissioner Adam Silver, but they have agreed contracts with the Los Angeles giants.
Vanderbilt guard Scotty Pippen Jr, son of Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen heads to Los Angeles, joining the Lakers on a two-way contract. The Lakers also added Shareef O’Neal, whose father Shaquille led them to three straight titles from 2000-02, to their Summer League roster.
These two aren’t expected to have the same careers their fathers had, but they can be solid players in the league and help franchises get wins and compete for important things. However, this is not what the Lakers fans had in mind, they wanted fresh and competent blood, young guns who can restore the legacy of the Lakers, not just some star-kids on mind-boggling contracts. While they may live up to their names, there is no guarantee of their performances, something which is exciting for the fans but terribly uncertain at the same time.
After getting the invite, Shareef posted video of himself on Twitter, showing himself as a young boy in a replica of his father’s No. 34 jersey. His caption read – ‘Thank you for this opportunity @Lakers!’ .Scotty posted a similar message after the news broke: ‘Dreams come true. Let’s get to work #lakeshow.’ Los Angeles fans couldn’t contain their excitement after reading the last names of these players. However, the iconic purple and gold team were mocked hilariously online for the same reason, here are some of the best reactions.
