“F*ck no…I wouldn’t go” Lakers legend gave up $200,000 just to play alongside Dennis Rodman in front of Kim Jong Un

Robert Horry, Dennis Rodman with Kim Jong Un

As one of the top players in the National Basketball Association, Dennis Rodman‘s 2013 trip to North Korea sparked displeasure from the entire basketball community. Rodman has repeatedly been described as a man who has a really peculiar lifestyle. During his time in the NBA, people thought he was strange because of his painted hair. Probably the one you don’t care as much about. Since Rodman is the closest thing Kim Jong Un has to a buddy, to describe him as “special” would be the understatement of the century. When Rodman visited Korea once, he revealed the so many interesting subjects that he and Kim usually spoke about when they got together.

The most bewildering of all of his remarkable adventures, though, is perhaps the one about his trip to North Korea, when he was almost joined by a former Los Angeles Lakers teammate. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year flew to North Korea with the Harlem Globetrotters and it was there that he met Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader. The strange link has sparked a lot of debate throughout the world since The Worm has visited the country several times since then. Surprisingly, they clicked right immediately but  Robert Horry, a former player for the Lakers, was also on the list and nothing could convince him to enter the competition.

Dennis Rodman excelled as a defender and rebounder. He also played on the NBA champion Bad Boys Pistons, where both players like learning about a player’s thoughts before the game even begins. It would be tempting to bring up the controversies, haircuts, piercings, etc. every time Rodman’s name is mentioned. However, in addition to the criticism, we also need to take into account his grit, perseverance, toughness, defense, and commitment to put his life in danger for his team. Consider Rodman’s outstanding achievements, but also consider the qualities that made him one of the best players ever.

Robert Horry- The guy who said ‘NO’ to North Korea

The maiden trip, which Rodman made in 2013, was intended to increase interest in basketball in the country. Robert Horry discussed the unexpected connections of the Worm and his trip to North Korea. The seven-time champion, however, also admitted that he was given the chance to travel to there with Rodman. But for him, no amount of money could convince the Lakers great to travel. He said: “They came to me and said ‘You want to go play?’. I’m like fu*k no. They were giving guys like $200,000 to go play. I was like hell no! You can say a million and I wouldn’t fu*king go.”

Rodman’s objectives are yet unknown, but the campaign seemed to provide the Worm a chance to advance global cooperation. Undoubtedly, there will be others who try to assert that Robert Horry had some type of tension toward Dennis, but sometimes, when someone asks for their opinion on anything, they feel forced to speak what they believe to be the truth. Rodman has identified himself as an unofficial US diplomat ever since his first trip. Rodman’s unconventional style may have been crucial in maintaining connections with various global leaders. Rodman’s method may be mysterious, but the Worm has undoubtedly retained his ability to astound the globe.
