Lakers legend Magic Johnson hypes Coach Darvin Ham’s introductory press conference

Magic Johnson Praising Los Angeles Lakers New Head Coach Darvin Ham
Los Angeles Lakers officially introduced Darvin Ham as their Head Coach as they conduct an introductory press conference for him. Lakers’ legend Magic Johnson was excited with the coach’s vision and praised him for the approach as the purple and gold look to turn their fortunes around in the upcoming 2022-23 season.
After a disastrous 2022 season, Los Angeles Lakers are set for a new chapter in their franchise history, as they introduce Darvin Ham as their Head coach. The introductory press conference was held on the famous UCLA training campus, and the entire buzz around the franchise was tackled well by the spoken off personnel. Though practically Darvin Ham is not new to coaching, it was his first direct interaction with the LA Press as “Head of the Table”. He answered many questions related to the development, accountability, the team plays and player trades too. Magic Johnson was very happy with how things went in the conference and went ahead to congratulate ‘his friend’.
Magic Johnson practically summed up the entire conference with pleasing words for Darvin Ham. He wrote, “I enjoyed listening to him talk about accountability, defense, spacing on the offensive end, sacrifice, competitiveness, and toughness.” Adding to it he wrote, “He won a championship as a coach with the Bucks and as a player with the Pistons. He knows winning and championship basketball!”
Darvin Ham seemed positive with the players he has at his disposal

Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Pelinka looked confident while introducing Darvin Ham as the franchise’s newly appointed Head Coach. He firstly congratulated Darvin for his records and also opened up about him being a unanimous selection by the Lakers front office. Los Angeles Lakers gave him 1st assistant coach opportunity in the league, whereas they are the ones promoting him to the Head Coach too.
Whereas Darvin had a round of thanks for the selection and after confirming his plans to put LA Lakers at the position that they deserve, he was ready for the press.
28th Coach of the most decorated franchise in the league talked more about using the players’ talents in the right direction and right purpose, along with the 3 big stars in the team, coach Ham also emphasizes developing the young talented players in the team, which could be more fulfilling according to him. As per the coach’s approach and fundamentals, a 48-year-old former NBA Champion seemed focused more on the hard work put in on daily basis rather than going for big steps to achieve the goals.
While on the hottest topic around the Lakers Nation regarding Russell Westbrook’s situation; Coach Ham heaps praise on the star guard and assured that he has much more basketball games remaining in him. Ham’s exact words were, “Don’t get it messed up. Russell is one of the best players our league has ever seen. He still has a ton left in that tank. I don’t know why people tend to write him off. I’m going to approach him like every player I’ve ever encountered. We’re going to talk about our running habits with the ball, without the ball.”
Now on connecting Westbrook with the Lakers Championship-winning pair, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, coach Darvin gave a little glimpse of his ideology with the team. He said, “I’m going to expect him to be the same tenacious, high-energy player that he’s been all his entire career. A lot of that now may have him without the ball in his hand. Most of it now may have it on the defensive end. But again, we have to sacrifice. There’s no achieving anything without all parties sharing the load, sacrificing, instead of one-on-one.”
Interestingly Many of the Lakers stars including Russell Westbrook were present for the presser. Lakers’ very own Magic Johnson also was satisfied with the vision Coach Ham has for this team. The former assistant coach is known for his player development skills and also holds them accountable for their game – which was a major loophole in the 2022 Lakers team.

Los Angeles faithful will be pleased with Darvin’s approach towards guiding the team to glory again, and if he could turn the team around, especially after a disastrous last season, we could expect the team to play for the title again in near future.
