Lamar Odom has one of the most tragic stories in the NBA. He was certified star in the league when he first began and he was only moving upwards when his problems hit the ceiling. People he come up in fame and popularity experience pressure from a completely different level and Odom was no stranger in that department.
Recently, the former Los Angeles Lakers forward opened up about his start in abusing drugs. He revealed he began smoking marijuana at the age of 15 while simply just hanging out with friends. Overtime, “change” in his friend circle and situation paved the way for psychedelic drugs.
“I never thought I’d have a drug problem. I’m an athlete, so I thought I could overcome anything. I never thought one hit of cocaine was going to do that,” he told Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay. He also said he did not think he would fall into addiction due to his past living with a heroine addict father.
Drugs paved way for Lamar Odom’s s*x addiction
Lamar Odom is also well known for his highly toxic relationship with fashion and business mogul Khloe Kardashian. The pair were together for a good amount of time during which the basketball player was involved in multiple affairs with other women. Their marriage of nearly 7 years came to an end in 2016.
The former athlete revealed that his addiction to drugs made him realise he was also a s*x addict. He claimed that at one point the two aspects went “hand in hand” because he did not have s*x one night he would have s*x by himself, meaning abuse drugs.
Lamar Odom also told Sharpe that his first “high” on cocaine was like the best org*sm he has ever had. Unfortunately, his drugs abuse led to several health issues, numerous heart attacks and kidney problems. This forced him to retire early from his career. It has been over five years since his last abuse of drugs or alcohol.
