NBA superstar James Harden has been involved in a back-and-forth with the 76ers organization regarding his future with the team. He has publicly announced that he cannot play for a team led by 76ers GM Daryl Morey anymore. Through his actions, he has made it evident to the 76ers organizations and fans that he doesn’t want to continue playing in Philadelphia anymore.
However, despite all his requests, Harden still hasn’t been traded from Philadelphia. As training camp approaches, Harden is still very much part of the 76ers organization. In the past, when Harden’s trade requests have not been fulfilled by his team, he has often committed acts of defiance in order to make a point. It appears this time will be no different. On Monday, the 76ers have their media day. Typically, players who are committed to the team show up on media day and answer questions on topics like the team’s future and their game plan. Harden, however, isn’t expected to show up.
Media day presence is considered an important factor in illustrating a player’s commitment to his team by many. Harden’s refusal to show up could be taken as an indicator of his feelings towards the 76ers.
If Harden does show up on Monday however, it would be interesting to see how the discussion pans out. The central focus of the 76ers media day would be the position of Harden on his relationship with the 76ers. Until Monday though, all discussion can be labelled as conjecture. Harden’s fate with the franchise will only be revealed when they choose to do so.

Many fans have labelled this another one of Harden’s gimmicks to force a trade. Fans vented their frustration on Twitter, calling Harden a honeybun and questioning why he’s sitting out media day while still being part of the team. Here’s what they’re saying:
If Harden doesn’t show up in the end, the online tirade against him is only going to get worse. He’s already been labelled a drama queen and a crybaby by many fans. Avoiding media day will only give his critics more ammunition for their arsenal. The only thing his critics and fans can do is wait and watch what he does next.
