The Los Angeles Lakers are on the verge of advancing to the Western Conference Finals after pulling off a thrilling 104-101 win over the Golden State Warriors on Monday night. However, ESPN’s Mike Greenberg had a wild idea for how the Lakers should approach Game 5.

On the show “Get Up”, Greenberg suggested that the Lakers should rest their two superstars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and let them stay in Los Angeles. He suggested that the Warriors are not going to lose a home game no matter what.

They have the heart of a champion, they can have the home crowd behind them, the Lakers… I mean LeBron and AD both played 43 minutes last night. If I’m the Lakers, I leave LeBron and AD in LA,” Greenberg said as his co-hosts laughed incredulously.

Greenberg added, “Why even bother putting the miles on them on the plane? Let them drive up and down the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway). It’s a beautiful drive up and down Pacific Coast Highway. Maybe stop off at Pebble Beach.

Mike Greenberg’s co-hosts were not amused by his idea and argued that it would be disrespectful and foolish to underestimate the Warriors and their star player, Steph Curry. “Steph is one of the most petty competitive guys there is. The last thing they need is a spark. You’re gonna disrespect me?” one of them said.

Another co-host said, “Here’s why you don’t do that. You leave those two guys at home, guess who all of a sudden maybe goes off? Klay Thompson. Jordan Poole. These guys are back in the series as shooters because you don’t have that defense. Now you’ve got a problem.

Greenberg tried to backtrack by saying that he was joking and that he would only rest LeBron and AD if they had a big lead in Game 5, but his co-hosts were not buying it and shut him down.

The Lakers and the Warriors will face off again on Wednesday night for Game 5. The Lakers will try to finish off the series and move on to face either the Phoenix Suns or the Denver Nuggets, while the Warriors will try to keep their season alive and force a Game 6.
