LeBron James was totally team Caitlin Clark during the 2024 NCAA Championship Game, and she reciprocated the support with an outstanding performance in the first quarter. She scored 18 points, including a crucial three-point shot, which she needed to break the NCAA Women’s all-time scoring record. 

James on X (formerly known as Twitter) called out those who don’t see the talent that Clark is a “flat out haters.”

During the first quarter of the game, Clark showed her offensive skills and scoring ability despite clashing with the undefeated South Carolina. She again demonstrated her mastery of the game with her customary three-point shots.

However, the Gamecocks came out with the 87-75 win, thus extending their unbeaten record to 38-0 for the season. Furthermore, the loss draws the curtain close to what has been an incredible season as Clark leaves college basketball with the knowledge that she is the all-time leading scorer in both men’s and women’s divisions.

Although Caitlin Clark couldn’t lead her team to victory, she got colossal recognition from one of the sport’s biggest stars. LeBron James spoke of his admiration for Clark and the impact she’s had on women’s college basketball, and because of her, there’s now a love for both the men’s and women’s game from fans. 

I don’t think there’s much difference between the men’s and women’s game when it comes to college basketball. I think the popularity comes in is the icons that they have in the women’s game.

Furthermore, he also praised the influence and star power of Angel Reese, JuJu Watkins, and Paige Bueckers, who also made an impact by creating an appeal for the women’s game. He specifically commended Clark for increasing the ratings and TV viewership of the just concluded Final Four Tournament. 

Next for her is an opportunity to take her shine to the WNBA. And as far as James’ endorsement, it serves as an acknowledgment of her excellent work, her dedication and tireless will to succeed led her to this point. The best is yet to come from Caitlin Clark.
