Yesterday marked the reveal of the first statue commemorating the late Kobe Bryant. Yesterday also marked a return to the home court for the Los Angeles Lakers after their recent 6-game road trip. Donning Black Mamba jerseys, the Lakers went up against the reigning NBA Champions, the Denver Nuggets. During the game, Lakers megastar LeBron James was involved in a play that drew oohs and aahs from both the fans in the arena as well as those watching on television.
In the 7th minute of the game, the Lakers advanced the ball in transition. Rui Hachimura passes the ball to LeBron James, who flips it to Anthony Davis behind him who finishes at the rim. The play sparked discussions as soon as the recording of it came out. With fans arguing back and forth, James came forward to settle the dispute. He replied to a fan saying that the pass was not intentional saying;
After all this time I’m still proving them wrong! I mean you would think they know by now but you know when it comes to me.

LeBron James basically put the argument to bed with the statement. He knows that people still may not agree with it.
The supposed pass to Davis was one of the few highlights of the game. The Lakers could not use the motivation of Kobe Bryant in the game. Playing without their starting as well as their replacement point guards did not help them get the win.
The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets 106-114. They tried to put up a fourth-quarter rally to win the game to commemorate Kobe Statue Day. However, they fell short towards the end. Missed shots and turnovers proved costly.
The two sides of the play involving LeBron James
The video footage from multiple angles suggests two different possibilities for that play. One is that James flicked it to Davis, as he already knew Davis’ position on the court. Plus, he noticed Aaron Gordon moving towards him, which effectively freed up Davis for an easy dunk.

The second argument is that the way James’ hands move as well as James’ eyes tracking the ball, suggest that the ball slipped out. Some fans believe James’ right hand was a bit late to react to the pass from Hachimura.
Fans of LeBron James say it was an intentionally brilliant pass. Haters say it slipped. James just silenced them with his version of his own play.
