The Lakers took on the Magic in what turned out to be a rather comfortable W for LA. They blew the Magic out 129-110 in a comfortable victory. During the game, however, LeBron James got into a shouting match with someone on the Orlando bench.
It happened after a play where LeBron got fouled while trying to catch the ball down low. The Magic called timeout and the broadcast cut to a commercial. Footage has emerged showing what happened during the commercial break, and it seemed like James was walking back to his bench rather innocuously.
LeBron turned around and appears to say “Pardon?” towards the Magic bench. From the footage, it isn’t clear exactly who it was that prompted the response from James. He wasn’t asked about it in the post-game press conference either so we won’t know what it is about. Skip Bayless though took the opportunity to hate on LeBron once again and claimed that Jordan was superior. You can find his very unnecessary tweet here below:
LeBron’s focus will be squarely to build upon this good result for the Lakers and improve to make a playoff push once Anthony Davis gets back from injury. So far into the season, James is averaging 27.8 points, 8 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game. He still has no good help around him as AD is out and he needs someone to back him up. The front-office though isn’t taking any chances for the struggling squad yet.
LeBron James and Paolo Banchero share mutual compliments before and after the Lakers play the Magic
Since the turn of the century, only 7 rookies have averaged over 20 points per game. Paolo Banchero is on pace to be the 8th on that list. Among those 7 is LeBron James. Banchero and James were asked about one other around the Lakers’ matchup with the Orlando Magic.
Before the game, Banchero was asked about facing James. The #1 pick said, “Anybody that knows me knows that’s been my favorite player since I was a young kid. A guy who I’ve watched countless hours of… So to be on an NBA court with him makes me scratch my head that this is real life.”
In the post-game presser, LeBron was asked about his thoughts on Banchero this season and the King returned the complimentary words. “He has been exceptional, playing great ball,” said LeBron. “He’s only gonna get better and better”.
LeBron was able to lead the Lakers to the win over Banchero’s Magic, putting up 28/7/5 in 31 minutes in the win. Paolo on the other hand struggled to get into a rhythm offensively and finished the night with only 4 points as the Lakers dominated the Magic.
