LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers won their second game of the season against the Phoenix Suns after losing their season opener against the reigning champions, the Denver Nuggets. After their first loss, a lot of the blame for the loss was placed on Anthony Davis and his inability to score in the second half.

Davis was blamed because he did not score a single point in the second half of the game against the Nuggets, despite scoring 17 in the first half. He silenced all his doubters in the second game as he led the Lakers to a comeback win against the Suns.LeBron also praised Davis and said that he and the Lakers don’t care about AD’s haters. He said:

We don't give a sh*t about criticism of AD. We don't care.

Davis scored 30 points in the game and grabbed 12 rebounds, keeping the Lakers in contention. They didn’t get a lead in the game until late in the fourth quarter. Alongside Davis, LeBron James came through in the clutch, scoring 6 straight points for the Lakers in the fourth quarter out of his 21 points in the game and helping the Lakers beat the Suns 100-95, securing their first win of the season.

LeBron James calls Anthony Davis the face of the Lakers franchise

LeBron is playing his 21st season and will be turning 39 years old in December. It doesn’t come as a surprise that his level of play is declining and that he is getting more injury-prone.

Anthony Davis was realistically brought into the team to make sure that he takes the reins of the team once LeBron James retires.

In a recent interview, James himself talked about how Davis was the face of the Lakers franchise and that he was equivalent to the greats who have played for the Lakers. He said:

He is the face [of the franchise]… You look at all these [retired] numbers that surround this facility, all the greats that have come here and AD is one of them.
