LeBron James is one of the best basketball players ever to play the game. Even though he has a huge following, he does have critics. But tonight, even those critics bowed down to the Lakers superstar as King James led the LA Lakers to a sensational 21-point comeback against their hometown rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers.
This was the final home game the Clippers would play in the Crypto.com arena. The Lakers were down 77-98 just as the fourth quarter started. At that moment, they stared at another embarrassing loss to the Clippers. James decided to take over the game and scored 19 points with the help of five 3-pointers to outscore the Clippers by himself in the fourth quarter. He assisted or scored on 11 of the Lakers’ final 13 baskets. This also marks the largest-ever 4th quarter comeback in LeBron James’ career.
Such was his superlative performance that everyone in the basketball world lauded his efforts. Single-handedly turning the game around is not a small feat. Doing it at age 39 and in one’s 21st season is also not a joke and James did it against one of the best teams in the league.
LeBron James finished the game with 34 points, six rebounds, and eight assists. His 19-point juggernaut in the fourth quarter and ball distribution helped the Lakers outscore the Clippers 39-16.
Concurrently, James’ defense was exemplary. He denied Kawhi Leonard the opportunity to score the game-tying basket in the dying seconds. All this helped the Los Angeles Lakers win over their hometown rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers, with a 116-112 score.
