LeBron James is running out of time. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar is in his 21st season in the league. His goal is to be the undisputed Greatest Player of All Time. For that to happen, he needs to win at least another championship and perhaps the Finals MVP along the way. But the way the Los Angeles Lakers season is going so far, it seems highly unlikely it will be this year.

There have been several rumors floating around over the past few weeks. With every loss adding to their miserable season, trade rumors were mostly focused on the Lakers. The last few games, however, added an unprecedented name into the mix.

That, of LeBron James himself. It brought out the wildest of discussions, both on sports shows as well as social media. Now, with just a week to go before the NBA’s trade deadline, James’ agent has put the rumors to bed. Rich Paul, CEO of Klutchsports talked to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, saying;

Basketball fans have taken this reaction with a pinch of salt. After all, everyone knows James’ career is winding down.

Before the season started, Lakers GM Rob Pelinka made a series of moves. This included both re-signing crucial role players, as well as some crucial off-season acquisitions. Many lauded the moves, as they thought it solved a lot of the issues that prevented the Lakers from going all the way to the championship. However, things have panned out differently. The Lakers are a .500 team and in 9th place in the Western Conference.

The trade idea for James started doing the rounds after James posted an hourglass emoji on his official Twitter account. Since then basketball fans and the media have been discussing the possibility of James looking elsewhere. What made matters worse is that since he posted the tweet, he has not clarified anything about it in the media.

Basketball fans were losing their sleep trying to figure out how LeBron James’ future would unfold in the next few days. Even when news regarding other trades was being announced, fans would comment that they wanted to know about James’ future. Such was the anticipation and excitement to see where the current All-Time Greatest Scorer would be.
