There is no doubt that every franchise LeBron James has been a part of, he has surely left a mark on it. Be it with his game-play on the court, or perhaps his relations off it as well. But on one particular occasion, Bron did not have the most pleasant of exchanged with his former owners as he stepped in to take legal action against Micky Arison regarding his image rights over the name of a ship.
Fans would be aware that after reigning superior in the toughest league for 19 years, Lebron James has truly deserved the nickname ‘KING’. However, couple of years back, LeBron James Trademarks (the company of the Lakers star) and his former team’s owner Micky Arison for in a legal dispute over the same.

Now to bring everyone on the same page, back in August of 2019, Carnival Cruises filed a trademark for the name “King James”, in an attempt to name one of their cruises by the same name. The same move was blocked by James’ legal team, as they had issue with Carnival using a name that is so synonymous with the 4x NBA Finals MVP. To state the reason, there could’ve been 2 main factors that influenced LeBron James’s legal team to filed a complaint on Carnival.
The first being of course, to avoid the public from creating a false sense of association between the cruise line and LeBron James himself. The second could possibly be due to LeBron James being associated with the nickname for well over a decade.
That being said, LeBron James has always managed to get into the heat of many incidents such as this, over the course of 19 years. But this time around, it surely wasn’t him on the receiving end.
But for now, all eyes will be on LeBron as he starts to gear up with the LA Lakers for the upcoming 2022-23 season. With the purple and gold expected to be in huge action in this off-season it will be interesting to see what changes will Darvin Ham’s team make in order to contest for the silverware once again.
