Lil Wayne recently made it to the NBA headlines and the reason wasn’t him beefing with Mark Cuban but this time it was the LeBron James led Los Angeles Lakers. The American rapper is a big fan of basketball and has always been linked with the league. He has been riding with the Lakers for quite a while now. So on his recent appearance at “Undisputed”, sitting alongside Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless, Lil Wayne backed up the LeBron James led Los Angeles Lakers as he believes the King can get the job done.
The Los Angeles Lakers were terrible last season as their big three of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook failed and the team didn’t even make it to the play-in tournament. But Lil Wayne has still got hopes with the Lakers as he believes they can go all the way in if Bron and AD suit up and lead the team. Honestly, Lil Wayne’s take is not at all wrong as the team really has the potential to win it all but it just didn’t work out for them last season and now they need to improve and be a unit.
Lil Wayne backing up the Los Angeles Lakers in front of Shannon Sharpe and the biggest LeBron James hater Skip Bayless quoted: “Beyond being a fan I believe we can go all the way…I believe the Lakers can go as far as ‘Bron take ’em. And as far as AD’s healthy. I trust ‘Bron, I’m not sure about AD and his health.”
Further, Lil Wayne added: “I trust ‘Bron. You got to remember, it’s not like Bron and AD were out there. We weighing it from what happened, how Westbrook played, whatever, but he didn’t do that while LeBron and AD was out.” The rapper really has a lot of hopes from the King and believes he can carry them across. But still, he doubts Anthony Davis and his health along with the new backcourt duo of Patrick Beverley and Russell Westbrook. He didn’t criticized Brodie and hopes they still can work together.
Will the Lakers live up to the expectations of Lil Wayne?
Lil Wayne is really a believer for the Lakers and has sky-high hopes from the team and especially LeBron James. And, he isn’t wrong with those as you can ride with the King anytime and anywhere. But it’s the supporting cast and role players who can mess it all up once again. As their roster is still imbalanced and they lack behind in almost all sectors if any of their stars are injured especially AD as last season he was named as Day to Day Davis.
But the Los Angeles Lakers are making sure to improve and get better before the training camp starts. They acquired Patrick Beverley recently and that’s a great move under the system of new head coach Darvin Ham. But still, they haven’t made any major changes on their roster and the future of Russell Westbrook is still uncertain. So the season can be another upset for Lil Wayne but again if Bron and AD work it out they have the potential to bring a title too.
