Lorenzen Wright’s ex-wife Sherra Wright parole plea gets denied; Ordered to serve a 30-year prison sentence
Lorenzen Wright and Sherra Wright
Lorenzen Wright was found dead in Memphis (2010) with marks of gun shots on his body. His killers flew free for almost seven years but in 2017 his wife Sherra Wright and Billy Ray Turner were indicted on first-degree murder charges. Billy Ray Turner is a landscaper who knew Sherra Wright from church and, according to prosecutors, both of them also had a secret love affair going on which eventually made them mastermind a plan for the murder of Lorenzen Wright. The body was found in a field in East Memphis and had the whole state upset as they lost a former NBA player who had them proud by getting drafted to the league in 1996 as the 7th pick overall.
Sherra Wright in 2019 admitted that she planned it all and hired Billy Ray Turner for killing her husband. She also said out how they falsely got him in the field and then left him to die after shooting him with a gun which was found years after the murder. She received a three-decade-long sentence for the charges regarding planning and murdering her husband Lorenzen Wright. Recently, she appeared in front of the parole board with a plea to be freed. As her attorney argued her to just be a model inmate inside.
Lorenzen Wright’s mom though doesn’t agree with it and requested the court to deny it and that she should serve the entire thirty years in the prison and should be behind the bars. Fortunately, the decision is on her side and Sherra Wright‘s parole plea got denied which means justice being served to the unfortunate Lorenzen Wright.

Will Sherra Wright spend the entire thirty years behind the bars?
It’s not predictable that whether Sherra Wright will spend her whole sentence behind the bar or not. But surely she isn’t getting out anytime soon as her next chance to appear in front of the parole board will be after May 2027. The D.A. in Shelby County, discussing the board’s decision with well-wishers of Lorenzen Wright quoted: “Welcome news…To have released this defendant after she has served less than five years of a 30-year sentence for murder conspiracy would have diminished respect for the law by declaring a policy of tolerance for violent criminal behavior.”
Many want her to spend the whole time behind the bars and if that happens she’ll be out when she’ll be in her 70s. What she did to the Hooper was wrong so the sentence for her is very correct. On the other hand, Billy Ray Turner was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment. Lorenzen Wright’s family and friends will surely not let her walk away with the crime and try their best to stop her from an early exit.
