Former Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams once talked about his idol and ex-NBA star Allen Iverson handing him bags full of cash and jewellery. Lou and Allen played together for just a year in the league. Allen is arguably one of the NBA’s all-time great scorers of the bench.

An old reel went viral where Lou was talking about Allen. He quoted, “One night he called me and he like um ‘Yo come grab my bag for a second’ so I come grab his bag and like anybody else that’s a Allen Iverson fan and you got his personal property. I go through his bag.”

Lou added, “you know what I’m saying, mind you know I’m a 17-year-old kid; open a bad, there’s a bunch of cash in the bag and all this jewellery and sh*t. So I go, get the ironing board, lay his sh*t out, taking my pictures and sh*t, sending it to the homies like look bro I really know him bro, I told y’all, put all his sh*t back in the bag. Next morning, I take him hid bag, he opened the bag up, take all the jewellery out and throw me the bag back.”

Allen Iverson inspired Lou Williams, just like most other fans. Williams did become teammates with him and used to hang out with him most of the time. Lou was always in awe of the Hawks champ before he got traded to the Denver Nuggets in a mid-season deal.

Although they were just together for half a season, Williams had enough time to be with his idol which would have been an unforgettable experience for him. Lou was drafted directly out of high school by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 45th overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft. He is a 3-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year. Lou went on to play for the NBA teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks.

Lou also surpassed Dell Curry’s record in February 2022 for playing the most career games off the bench. He re-signed with the Atlanta Hawks for the 2021-2022 season but retired after that. Lou did make some valuable contribution to the sport of basketball and is regarded as one of the top NBA league players.
