Luka Doncic inches towards breaking Michael Jordan’s INSANE 1986 scoring run
Michael Jordan and Luka Doncic
Luka Doncic is a unique talent and is already set to become a superstar in the league. Fans have even claimed him to be the next candidate for the G.O.A.T debate. And, Luka Doncic is really living up to all those expectations as he keeps shocking the world, especially on the offensive end. He already has got himself several legendary comparisons. And, now even Black Jesus has joined the list.
Luka Doncic as of now is tied with Michael Jordan’s 36-year-old record. He has become the first player since legendary Michael Jordan to start a season with a blast. In 1986-87 MJ started his season by dominating the offensive end and scored at least 30 points for straight six games. The Slovenian All-Star point guard has done the very same and now has a shot at taking MJ’s record down by giving out another monstrous performance of his in the Mavs’ seventh game of the season.
Luka Doncic in the last six games has been nothing but a bully for all the rival teams he has faced. As against the Suns, he got 35 points, gifted the Grizzlies a 32-point bomb, dropped 37 on the Pelicans’ head and destroyed the defensive end of the Thunder and Nets by handing both of them 31 points and 41 points respectively. And, in the sixth game where he tied Michael Jordan, he had 44 big points against the Orlando Magic.
Now the Dallas Mavericks will be hosting the Utah Jazz at American Airlines Center on 2nd November, Wednesday. So Luka has a shot to pass Michael Jordan with seven straight games with at least thirty points since the start of the season. And, he has a great chance of achieving that feat. As you either have to double-team Luka or push him off to a bad night. Or else you just get destroyed when he shows out his MVP-caliber performance.
Can Luka Doncic bag the MVP award?
Luka Doncic this season has a solid chance of bagging the MVP award. And, fans have already declared him as their MVP and want the league to hand him out an early-MVP trophy. As fans are amazed by the ways he is destroying the league with his offensive greats. This season so far he is leading the scoring chart and averaging 36.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, 8.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. And, is still missing most of his three-pointers as he averages 22.6% from downtown.
Luka Doncic though has a solid case to win the MVP award this season. But the Dallas Mavericks right now are listed as the 10th team in the western conference with a record of 3-3. Also, to walk away with the award he must stay healthy and maintain the same stretch and he can’t risk missing any games, especially due to injuries. Since Giannis Antetokounmpo and Donovan Mitchell aren’t much behind in the race.
