Luka Doncic may have never won a ring and might still be far away from a ring on the court, but he has secured one off the court. He proposed to his long-time girlfriend Anamaria Goltes, who he has been with since their childhood, and she said YES!
Doncic took to Instagram to post the good news. Both halves of the couple are from Slovenia and that is probably why Doncic proposed to her in the lake bed in Slovenia surrounded by white flowers, with the Church of the Mother God in the background. Doncic, who plays in jersey number 77, captioned the image “7.7” with a heart and ring emoji, signifying the engagement of the couple together.
Doncic and Anamaria are childhood friends. They started dating in their teenage but were on and off throughout the years. They eventually became very serious around 2016, when she was called to the USA by a modeling agency and when the future Dallas Mavericks star was poised to become the next NBA star. Ever since then, the 25-year-old model and fitness instructor has never left his side, keeping aside the short break-up in 2018. She is also often seen helping him during charity events. The couple have made several happy appearances together ever since then.

What did others have to say about Luka Doncic’s proposal?

It surely cannot be a coincidence that Luka proposed to his girlfriend on “7.7” hinting at his jersey number 77 and also the date of their anniversary. The whole of social media seemed to have realized this clever move. Doncic lives with his girlfriend happily in Dallas, Texas with their two dogs, Hugo and Gia. With this move, they both plan to take their personal lives to the next level.
LeBron James was one of the many people who congratulated the versatile baller “Congrats brother!!!!”. Notable figures like Boban Marjanovic and even Merriam-Webster congratulated him on IG.
While Luka’s personal life is flourishing, it will be interesting to watch how this moment changes his life, both as a player and as a person. Fans sure do hope the best for him on the court and the best for the couple off the court. At the best stage of his career, Luka will look to transfer all the positive energy to the court. As Mavs seal the three-way deal of Grant Williams’ trade, they look strong and are ready to make big moves this year with Kyrie Irving and Luka already in the team.
