At the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend, the well-known bromance between Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic and Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic stole the spotlight. The dynamic duo delighted fans with several humorous interactions, one of which involved a playful prank on Steph Curry, a four-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors.

Before Sunday’s All-Star Game, as the players immersed themselves in the atmosphere, Doncic diverted Curry’s attention by feigning to point out something near the rim. This maneuver lured Curry under the basket, enabling Jokic to exploit him as a springboard for a spectacular poster dunk.

Employing Curry’s shoulder as a launching pad, the Serbian center of the Denver Nuggets propelled himself skyward, executing the slam with flair. This led to uncontrollable laughter from Curry and Doncic with Jokic heard jokingly screaming.

Nikola Jokic speaks on the idea of linking up with close friend Luka Doncic

Nikola Jokic, when asked about the potential of teaming up with Doncic, responded to the question in Serbian, conveyed a sentiment implying his reluctance to leave the Denver Nuggets. However, his response also left the door open for Doncic, indicating a willingness to welcome him if circumstances allow.

Jokic conveyed his message in English through translation. He said:

I don't know if it's possible. I don't want to leave Denver. I like it here, and it's a great organization. If Luka gets pissed off in Dallas, then he can come.

Doncic’s potential departure from the Mavs would be tricky. He might choose to decline a player option worth less than $49 million for the 2026-27 season, but doing so would mean missing out on the opportunity to sign a massive five-year, $318 million supermax contract extension. This move could catapult him to the top spot as the NBA’s highest-paid player, possibly earning him over $70 million annually.
