“Are they really a good fit?” Magic Johnson questions Nets stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant’s duoship
Magic Johnson on Brooklyn Nets star duo
Magic Johnson is undoubtedly one of the best players ever witnessed by NBA fans. Having made a name for himself by playing alongside the biggest names in the league, Johnson was known to be the closest competitor of Michael Jordan in the late 90s. Moreover, the Hall of Famer has seen plethora of duos taking over the league and on the same note has gone onto question the fit/harmony of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Many analysts and former players have joined the Celtics hype train ever since they have completely demolished Nets in the first-round series and have taken a 3-0 lead. Safe to say Magic Johnson pondered a thought which could open a lot of discussions in the coming days. Especially with the Nets standing on the edge of the cliff, have they really got the right duo to lead their team?
Magic Johnson questions Brooklyn Nets star-duoship
It is a legitimate thought raised by magic Johnson. While Kevin Durant has been experiencing a rough patch, he hasn’t been able to lead his team deep into the playoffs in the same manner as his Golden State Warriors days. On the other hand, Kyrie Irving too has had great individual performances in the limited number of games played in the 2021-22 season, the duo just hasn’t played together for a consistent amount of time.
While both of them are legendary offensive players, their offensive prowess is much better than their defensive skills. Surely something which they are getting hammered upon in this series vs Celtics. Being 3-0 down, Steve Nash needs to think out of the box to stop the wrath of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown on the scoreboard.
But is in indeed safe to say that Magic Johnson has raised an indeed legitimate thought with his latest tweet. On the same note will we witness anything different in game 4, especially in the approach of Nets, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving? Or will Celtics go onto create history by being the only team to complete a cleans weep in the first-round? Remains to be seen.
