Mario Chalmers suggests ‘intimidation’ as the main factor why Michael Jordan will always have an edge over LeBron James in the GOAT debate

LeBron James

LeBron James’ former Miami Heat teammate Mario Chalmers feels Michael Jordan is the GOAT because he was more feared. Chalmers appeared on the ‘In Shambles‘ podcast and said – “Nobody fears Bron. Nobody is like ‘damn I gotta go up against Bron tonight.” Chalmers insisted that players from Jordan’s era speak about him with much more fear than LeBron’s era.

You hear anybody from that era talking about going against Jordan? There’s a fear,” said Chalmers. Chalmers’s perspective could be driven by the recently released ‘Las Dance’ documentary, which highlights the players that feared Michael Jordan. Chalmers feels players are only scared about going up against LeBron James’ team, not him as an individual matchup.

When you have people that fear a player, that’s telling you something different already. Jordan is that guy,” said Chalmers. The 2x NBA champion has Lebron James to credit for both rings but still feels Michael Jordan is the GOAT. Chalmers’s arguments are valid from the standpoint of fear, as Jordan was known for his intimidation tactics; LeBron’s play involves much less of that, which has led Chalmers to this assumption that no one fears Lebron James.

Michael Jordan has been praised by Mario Chalmers and numerous other NBA players for the fear he instilled in his opponents, but it might be getting blown out of proportion. Jordan debuted in the NBA in 1984 and was a star from the minute he arrived. Jordan won an MVP in his 4th year in the league and was a record-breaking scorer. However, Jordan only made it to the conference finals with Scottie Pippen.

Pippen joined the Bulls in the season Jordan won his MVP and instantly made the Bulls click as they made the conference finals in 1989 and 1990 with Jordan and Pippen on the team. Despite being the dominant scorer he was, Jordan had his share of playoff losses before he became an NBA Champion. The fear Chalmers refers to was developed by players who faced Jordan only after he teamed up with Scottie.
