NBA analyst Matt Barnes has ruled out the idea of the Golden State Warriors kicking out their star player Draymond Green amid punching fiasco. Matt was talking on Shannon Sharpe’s recent podcast episode, ‘Club Shay Shay.’ Matt Barnes was a former teammate of Draymond Green, and has highly praised him for his performance in the NBA league.

Matt Barnes said, “He’s the heart and soul of that organization, of that city. And I knew it from the outside looking in. But, once I got there, you can clearly see it.” He added, “This team wins no championships without Draymond Green. And that’s not a far-fetched, that’s not a hot take, that’s just facts.”

Matt quoted, “You don’t have to be able to shoot like Steph or jump like LeBron to play. This guy is a really intelligent, one of the smartest people in general. Probably one of the highest basketball IQ’s I’ve ever got a chance to be around.” He added, “When he makes it to the Hall of Fame, dudes are going to ask how…The stat sheet won’t tell the whole story. Draymond’s a winner and the heart & soul of the Warriors and the city.”

A week after punching teammate Jordan Poole during practice, Warriors forward Draymond Green has been fined by the team for his actions, head coach Steve Kerr told reporters on Tuesday night. The video of the scuffle was leaked last week, where one can see the two players exchanging words. Then, Green slowly walked towards Poole and got in his face, and Poole pushed Green. Then, Green punched Poole.

The All-Star forward will not face a suspension and is expected to return to practice on Thursday. Green spent time away from the team after the conflict while the rest of the group continued with the preseason matches. Green is in the final year of his contract with the Warriors, though he does have a $27 million player option for next season. But it is rumored that this might be the last time he plays for the franchise.
