“I believed he was capable of a respectful discussion” Maverick Carter reveals why ‘The Shop’ decide to drop Kanye West’s much-awaited episode

Lebron James and Kanye West

Since its debut in 2018, LeBron James‘ HBO shows The Shop has featured several celebrities in dialogues and disputes in a barbershop. Kanye West, an American rapper, recently came on the show, however, the episode will not be shown due to the hip-hop artist’s provocative statements. Maverick Carter, one of LeBron’s closest pals and a part of most of his business activities as well as The Shop, offered Andscape an exclusive statement explaining why they had to delete their just taped Ye interview.  Carter apologized to Salehe Bembury and Jeezy, the other celebs on the broadcast, for not expecting West would bring his agenda even on this show.

LeBron allegedly did not appear in this episode. The announcement was made by Maverick Carter, who discussed the decision in an exclusive interview with “Andscape.” Carter stated that Kanye West did not adhere to the commitment to hold a civil dialogue. He stated: “Yesterday we taped an episode of The Shop with Kanye West. Kanye was booked weeks ago and after talking to Kanye directly the day before we taped, I believed he was capable of a respectful discussion and he was ready to address all his recent comments. Unfortunately, he used The Shop to reiterate more hate speech and extremely dangerous stereotypes.”

Why won’t the episode featuring Kanye West be aired for the public

According to Andscape, Kanye West “doubled down on his recent anti-Semitic statements” while filming his episode of “The Shop.” The show, which has since been canceled, also featured rapper Jeezy and shoe designer Salehe Bembury. However, LeBron James was not present for the taping of this episode. Kanye West has recently been embroiled in several problems concerning his racist/hateful remarks. The rapper used anti-Semitic words in an Instagram post last Friday, which was later deleted by the social media platform.

West also tweeted an anti-Semitic remark on Saturday. It said: “I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.” The message was eventually deleted because it violated Twitter’s community rules. Additional footage from West’s interview with Fox News’s Tucker Carlson was published on Tuesday. West made “inflammatory statements regarding Jews” in the video. Jewish advocacy organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League, the American Jewish Committee, and the Black-Jewish Entertainment Alliance have since criticized West’s behavior. All things considered, it makes sense for LeBron James and Maverick Carter to keep as much distance from Kanye West as possible.
