The Memphis Grizzlies suffered yet another setback as guard-forward Dillon Brooks has been suspended for one game without pay. The suspension comes after Brooks received his 16th technical foul of the season during the Grizzlies’ loss to the Denver Nuggets on March 3.
Brooks has been a key player for the Grizzlies this season, averaging 14.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He is known for his tenacious defense and aggressive play, but his frequent technical fouls have been a concern for the team.
Under NBA rules, a player or coach who receives 16 technical fouls during a regular season is automatically suspended for one game without pay. Brooks’ suspension will be served on March 5 when the Grizzlies face off against the LA Clippers at Crypto.com Arena.
The Grizzlies, who are currently in the second spot in the Western Conference, will need to rely on their bench and remaining starters to fill the void left by Brooks’ suspension.
The NBA announced the punishment on Saturday afternoon. With a month and a half left in the regular season, Brooks appears to have accrued the maximum 15 technical fouls that a player may get before being suspended. Hence, the league’s action is not unexpected nor unjustified, but Memphis will suffer greatly from this suspension’s timing.

Memphis Grizzlies Face Multiple Setbacks: Morant Suspended, Clarke Out for Season, Brooks Suspended
The Memphis Grizzlies have had a rough 24 hours, with a series of setbacks that have left the team reeling. First, star point guard Ja Morant received a two-game suspension after allegedly showing a gun on Instagram Live. The 22-year-old apologized for the incident, saying that he made a mistake and that he takes gun violence very seriously.
In addition to Morant’s suspension, the team received more bad news when it was revealed that forward Brandon Clarke will miss the remainder of the season with a left Achilles tear. Clarke has been a key player for the Grizzlies this season, averaging 10.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Finally, guard Dillon Brooks has been suspended for one game after receiving his 16th technical foul of the season. Brooks is known for his fiery on-court demeanor, but his frequent technicals have been a concern for the team all season.
The Grizzlies are now facing an uphill battle as they try to secure a spot in the playoffs. With three key players out of commission, the team will need to rely on their bench and remaining starters to step up and fill the void. The next few weeks will be crucial for the Grizzlies as they try to bounce back from these setbacks.
