Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan is undoubtedly one of the best players to ever touch a basketball. He is also undoubtedly the most successful and feared star in the league’s history. MJ is the reason behind the widespread of the league today. He was the global superstar who made the world and several other NBA stars fall in love with basketball. Michael Jordan was so great that everyone just wanted to be like Mike. His playing career is impossible to match and his on-court even greats got him the tag of “Black Jesus.”

But unfortunately, the same cannot be said for him as an executive. As Michael Jordan is about to end his 13-year run as majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets. The first billionaire player in the league’s history started his run with Charlotte Hornets (Bobcats) as an executive in 2006. In 2010 Michael Jordan acquired a majority stake in the franchise by paying a whopping $275 million.

Jordan’s time with the Charlotte Hornets isn’t ending with him selling the franchise. As he is expected to keep a minority stake in the franchise and be around in the future. Also, with the soon-to-be-signed deal, Michael Jordan will continue to oversee the basketball operations of the Charlotte Hornets with the NBA Draft and Free Agency being around the corner.

It’s fair to say that Michael Jordan was a horrible executive and made several wrong decisions throughout his tenure. Also, the team hasn’t been able to win anything with his presence in the front office or even record any deep playoff runs. He has had several missed opportunities and wrong picks under his record and the best pick of his can be LaMelo Ball. MJ also lost some of his relations with his great friends during his tenure. Many claim his worst decision wasn’t drafting Kwame Brown but was to step up as an executive.

But now it’s a new journey for Michael Jordan and he’s going to get a bag. As with him selling the Charlotte Hornets with a deal of around $1.7 billion. He won’t have to be locked in at the front office. But before stepping down he has to make some successful and wise calls at this year’s Draft and Free Agency Market. We hope he’s able to pull a Last Dance moment here too.
