It’s a joyous occasion for the fans of the Chicago Bulls and the city of Chicago as the Bulls announced their Ring of Honor ceremony. The franchise will honor 13 members of the inaugural class for the organization. Big names like Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and Jerry Sloan have made the list and will be present in the prestigious ceremony.
Apart from one name- he has already let everyone know that he won’t be able to join them. That someone is none other than Micheal Jordan.
While the 13 notable names alongside Micheal Jordan were insured for the ceremony, Jordan backed out. In a recent video posted by the Chicago Bulls, he gave his reasons as well:
Good evening. I want to thank Jerry Reinsdorf and Michael Reinsdorf for starting the Ring of Honor. I want to congratulate all the other recipients. I am so bummed that I can't be there tonight, but I don't want that to stop the fun that you guys are going to have.
The 13 elite members include Artis Gilmore, Phil Jackson, Johnny “Red” Kerr, Dick Klein, Jerry Krause, Toni Kukoc, Bob Love, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Jerry Sloan, Chet Walker, Tex Winter and the man himself, from the 1996 championship-winning team.
The amount of legends included was staggering. From NBA titles to MVPs, it was an “Avengers Assemble” moment. Sadly for Jordan, he cannot make the event.
There were rumors about him being unavailable due to the strain in his and Scottie Pippen’s relationship. This is following Jordan’s son Marcus Jordan making it official that he would be getting married to Scottie’s ex-wife, Larsa Pippen. Fans couldn’t help but react to Jordan’s “not being available” message to the franchise.
Fans react to Jordan’s message before the Ring of Honor ceremony
After Michael Jordan gave his word that he wouldn’t be able to attend the glorious ceremony, fans reacted on social media. The basketball icon turned business tycoon, who spent almost a decade with the Chicago Bulls, has been a prominent figure in the city.
But even for a city legend to not be available at such a ceremony was a ‘head scratching’ moment. And fans couldn’t help but react.
