Porter Jr shot two clutch 3 pointers helping the nuggets secure a Win
The Denver Nuggets-Los Angeles Clippers matchup has grown into an underrated rivalry in the NBA. Since the 2020 Western Conference semi-finals, the two teams have had some nail-biting matchups. Today’s game added to the list of clutch matchups between the 2 teams. The Nuggets’ trio of Nikola Jokic, Michael Porter Jr., and Jamal Murray starred in the 134-124 OT victory.
With the score favouring the Clippers 118-117 and 43 seconds to go in the 4th Quarter, Jamal Murray brought the ball up the court but was stripped by Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard. Murray managed to revive it back and launched a deep three-pointer as the shot clock was about to expire. He missed it but an offensive rebound by Kentavious Caldwell Pope kept the Nuggets’ possession alive. Caldwell Pope found an open Porter at 45 who swished a three to give the Nuggets a 2-point lead. Clippers forward Paul George was later fouled by Caldwell Pope. George tied the game with 2 free throws and hit a miraculous 3/4th court shot at the buzzer which didn’t count.
The Nuggets completely took the game over in Overtime. Murray and Porter set the tone with 2 deep three-pointers and the momentum was carried over by Nikola Jokic, who sealed the game with an Alley-oop. The Nuggets are currently the best team in the Western Conference with a record of 43-19.
Nuggets are 23-0 when Jokic records a Triple-Double
Nikola Jokic has topped the MVP Charts for 2 straight years now and looks to three-peat. The Serbian Superstar took over the 1st spot on the MVP ladder from Luka Doncic in December and has retained his spot ever since.
Jokic has earned the reputation of being the greatest passing big man of all time. The 2X MVP has blossomed into a triple-double Machine with 105 Career triple-doubles to his name.
He recorded his 23rd triple-double of the season and finished with 40 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists. The Nuggets are Undefeated this season whenever Jokic has recorded a triple-double. With Jamal Murray having returned after staying out for 1.5 seasons, the Nuggets have finally ticked all the boxes required to make another deep run in the playoffs and potentially win a championship.
