This has warranted him a funny nickname – Michael ‘Never Swing The Rock’ Porter Jr

Talking to the NBA Buzz, Porter Jr said “I’m aware of the little Michael ‘Never swing the rock’ Porter Jr… To be completely honest, I’m one of the best shooters in the league, like humbly. I don’t see contests [when I shoot the ball].” He talked about how he thinks he is the best shooter in the league. He says that he will obviously toss the ball up unless the area is too crowded.

According to him, fans see him differently and that whatever contested shots he takes appear open to him. This is not his overconfidence and lack of skill but his ability to see open spaces in crowded ones too. Whatever his decisions are regarding the shots he takes, everyone shows confidence in him. Because of this, he has a level of confidence to take shots that others would not take.
