Ben Simmons would finally be completely healthy once the action for next season begins. The Australian guard, after all the disrespect for the past seasons and the Philadelphia 76ers drama, is now eyeing a comeback to the league. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are gone from the Brooklyn Nets roster. It’s finally time for Ben Simmons to step up and dominate the floor like he did in his Sixers days.
Many claim he is a washed-up player now. But that’s not the case, as we also have to consider the time he spent off the court and his back injuries. The new Nets superstar, Mikal Bridges, is pretty confident about Ben making a successful return to the team and balling out. On his recent appearance on PG-13’s podcast, “Podcast P with Pau George,” he made a big reveal about Ben Simmons and his relationship with the team.
While many frame him to be a bad and low influence in the locker room, the reality is quite the opposite. As Mikal Bridges talked about Ben Simmons and his faith in him, quoted, “Ben is my guy. I got big confidence, I got big faith in my boy this year. His back was messed up. Now he’s got surgeries and he’s back. But he love the game bro. He’s in a good place… F**ks with all of us… He’s the one talking in the chat all the time. And, we all f**k with him.”
Just like Mikal Bridges, many Nets’ fans are waiting for Ben Simmons to bounce back with his confidence, aggressiveness, and fearless behavior on the court. His injuries heavily limited him throughout his time with KD and Kai. But now it’s a whole new group of young and talented players that he can lead to another level after redeeming his spot and earning respect in the league.
Mikal Bridges on being a good support system for Ben Simmons
Mikal Bridges revealed in the same segment how everyone wants Ben to be the guy and score the ball. But he also mentioned how they understand his situation and that nobody is pressing him for it. Further, when asked about the ways he can provide support to the Australian guard, Bridges added, “Just be there with him, man. Support him. Even if you struggle for whatever, like that’s cool, whatever city we are in, we go hang out, go get dinner. Get ready for the next one. That’s the biggest thing he can be confident enough to fail.”
Mikal Bridges and Ben Simmons really share a special relationship, and the front office would be more than happy about it. Last season, Ben played only 42 games and didn’t suit up after February 15. But now he’s healthy and locked in the gym to get better and get back to his elite form.
