The world is shocked and outraged by Brittney Griner‘s 9-year prison sentence for flying to Russia with a cannabis cartridges, but maybe no one is responding as violently as Boosie Badazz. The rapper from Louisiana lost all control of his rage as he vented his frustration on America in general but specifically on Vice President Kamala Harris for what, in his opinion, could have been done more to assist a fellow Black lady. If it weren’t for Harris’ troubled record as a prosecutor, her support of Brittney Griner would be far more well-received in American culture.
The nine-year prison term issued to WNBA player Brittney Griner for a drug case in Russia was one of the most popular headlines on August 4. After being found in possession of a marijuana vape pen at an airport close to Moscow earlier this year, Griner was sentenced to jail by a Russian court this week. Numerous American politicians, including Harris, who stated that she is attempting to obtain Griner’s release, denounced the punishment. Boosie released an Instagram video shortly after learning the news in which he criticized the circumstance and became quite agitated as he thought about what many are considering a severe sentence.

Boosie Badazz is the stage name of 38-year-old American rapper Torence Ivy Hatch Jr. He started rapping in the 1990s as a member of the hip hop group Concentration Camp, and in 2000, he decided to pursue a solo career. He was one of the most well-known characters in southern hip hop and has since released seven studio albums on his own. Boosie received a four-year jail term in 2009 for possession of a firearm and drugs. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with numerous counts of first-degree murder the following year after being indicted on those allegations.
Since being detained by Russian authorities on February 17, Brittney Griner was suspected of possessing illegal marijuana oil-infused vape cartridges when she was seized at Sheremetyevo International Airport. Like a lot of other female basketball players, Griner competes overseas during the WNBA summer to enhance her earnings and maintain her skills. For UMMC Ekaterinburg in the Russian Women’s Basketball Premier League, Griner was competing at the time of her arrest. Although Griner stated that she had a prescription from her doctor for the cannabis oil and had packed swiftly, she said that she had no idea how it ended up in her luggage.

The sentencing infuriated a number of sportsmen, celebrities, and others, including rapper Boosie who went farther. Boosie uploaded a video on Instagram in which he expressed his fury at the lengthy sentence and pleaded with America to assist Griner. He also unloaded his displeasure on Vice President Kamala Harris in the video. He said: “What that show for Black women in the United States? And the Vice-President as a Black woman, you supposed to be on the frontline to get that Black woman out of jail! Nine damn years. Y’all f*cked up in this world!”
Boosie, who is known to occasionally go on outbursts, appeared particularly impassioned about this predicament. Boosie urged the American government to take immediate action and take whatever steps were required to bring Griner home. He emphasized that if Taylor Swift were in the same position, there would be an even greater need for assistance. Under Russian legislation, Griner has ten days to appeal her conviction. Her attorneys anticipate a subsequent hearing for the following week.
