These allegations originated from a now-deleted post where an anonymous user asserted that the girl accompanying the OKC Thunder guard was a high school junior.

A recent obstacle has impeded the investigation into the allegations, as the girl in question and her family are currently unwilling to cooperate with the authorities. This presents a significant challenge, as crucial facts have not yet been established to discern the events between both parties. Law enforcement sources express the need to engage in conversations with the girl and her friends to establish the factual basis of the case.

Despite the ongoing investigation, Giddey continues to be included in the OKC Thunder lineup, as the team opts not to sideline him until the case is resolved. Josh has maintained a reserved stance, choosing not to comment on the matter. Similarly, his coach declined to discuss the situation when questioned before the In-season tournament game against the Timberwolves. Coach Daigneault said:

Newport PD officially opens investigation against Josh Giddey

Confirmation from law enforcement sources indicates that the Newport Beach PD is actively investigating the allegations against Josh Giddey of the Oklahoma City Thunder, as reported on social media. The investigation aims to determine the validity of the claims and assess whether any laws were violated. The 21-year-old Australian, accused by an anonymous user of an intimate and improper relationship with a minor, faced immediate widespread dissemination of images featuring the OKC guard and the girl across the internet after the accusation surfaced.

The minor is located in California, where the age of consent is 18 years, whereas in the state of Oklahoma, it is 16 years. The police inquiry commenced promptly following the NBA’s announcement of its investigation into the incident, as confirmed by Sgt. Steve Oberon of the Newport Beach PD. He said:

We have information, and we're looking into it. We're investigating whether or not a crime occurred.

Despite the ongoing situation, the former 6th overall pick, Josh Giddey, is enjoying a stellar season with the Thunders and has not faced suspension from the team. Notably, the OKC Thunder is thriving, currently holding the 3rd position in the Western Conference and Northwest Division standings with an impressive 11-6 record, marking their best season thus far.
