NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has never backed down on speaking his mind about politics. The NBA legend has given his two cents on the Kyrie Irving controversy and believes the Brooklyn Nets star is being “used”.

Not long ago, the NBA and Brooklyn Nets suspended superstar Kyrie Irving for his controversial comments on Semitism. The 30-year-old player has not taken any accountability for his hate speech according to the organization and hence suspended for at least 5 games. Devout Muslim player, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar talks to Jake Tapper of CNN and says Irving has been used to spread hatred.

This is not the first time Kareem has lashed out at the former Cleveland Cavaliers player. “Well, I think Kyrie has to understand what’s happening. He’s being unwittingly used to promote hatred and antisemitism,” said Abdul-Jabbar in a bold appearance on CNN Tonight with Jake Tapper.

Kareem believes Kyrie Irving is not aware of the damage he is causing to all the minorities and marginalized communities in the United States of America. Irving has been very firm on his stance and has defended his actions by sharing a documentary that is said to have anti-semitism propaganda.

“Make sure that all marginalized groups receive the same protection as the groups that are used to giving that protection and feeling safe,” said the former Lakers superstar on his CNN appearance. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is not alone in his criticism of Kyrie Irving. Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal are other NBA legends who slammed the Nets star for his actions.
